Born and raised in Northwest Iowa, Moondog's fascination with the art of tattoo began at an early age. To Moondog, tattooing is not just a profession or trade, but rather the art and science of expression on the most personal of all media: the skin.

Realizing that the fascination with tattoo went hand-in-hand with a deep well of raw talent, Moondog sought to refine that talent into skill by apprenticing under some of the country's finest tattooists. His journey took him to Des Moines, Ames, Colorado, and points in between. He quickly gained the attention of tattoo enthusiasts, and emerged as one of the most gifted skin artists in the Midwest and beyond.

Along the way, he became a master piercer, and in typical Moondog style, refuses to half-ass it: he uses only the finest body jewelry available. If you want it done badly, you'll have to have it done somewhere else.

Moondog has inked rock stars, housewives, and everything in between. Returning now to the place it where it all began, Moondog has come full-circle, realizing a long-standing ambition to open a tattoo studio of his own.
